According to recently released sales figures, the Xbox 360 has sold over 1 million units in Japan since its December, 2005 release, while the Playstation 3 tops out at over 3 million sold since its launch in December, 2006. While 1 million units doesn't sound great in a country of over 100 million people, consider this: the original Xbox sold just 470,000 units during its run in Japan, so the 360 has already doubled that. I'd be curious to see the US and worldwinde sales figures. I think the main reason why Xbox did so well is because Sony was so slow getting out the gate! That price tag at the PS3 launch was scary, even for an early adopter like me!
